How long have you been in the construction industry? How has the industry changed over time?

I have been in the construction industry for 12 years. In that time there have been many advancements to digital collaboration and our ability to grow and scale more efficiently. Project management software such as Procore and collaboration tools like Microsoft Teams have enabled us to increase transparency and more effectively coordinate from the office to the field. Additive manufacturing like our in-house 3D printing have also allowed us to find creative solutions that may have required additional time, space, and resources. Virtual reality continues to amaze me as we are now able to visualize plans and details within an augmented environment from conception to completion. Additional, improvements to tools and machinery have increased our productivity and safety. I think our products have also expanded to support green initiatives and net-zero energy buildings.

What would you say to a young woman hoping to pursue a career in the construction industry?

Stay true to yourself and find your passion. Pursue your dreams. The construction industry is not defined by gender.

What is the proudest moment you have had in your career in the construction industry?

The proudest moments in my career are when we complete a project, but it’s also the moments in between when we’re able to come together as a team to problem solve and think creatively about the work.

What trends/changes do you see in the future for women in construction?

I see more women throughout construction with greater responsibility. I am also personally committed to being intentional about diversity and inclusion within the workplace.

What are some future goals you have in your role at GBI?

I am honored to continue the Goldfinch family legacy which has supported our greater communities for nearly 130 years. The continued success of our organization will be driven by our differential commitment to our customers and teams. We will continue to diversify our product offering with innovative solutions and partnering with industry leading companies like Schuco and Marvin.

Stay tuned to learn more about the incredible women at Goldfinch Brothers Inc. as we celebrate Women’s History Month.
