Celebrating Women’s History Month with Women in Construction:
Meet Mandy Hendershott: Goldfinch Brother’s Apprentice Glazier
What drew you to the construction industry?
Honestly, it kinda just fell on my lap. I have a passion for creating and am a self-taught wood worker, so being in this industry inspires me to learn more.
Do you have any advice for other women in the construction industry?
You are capable of more than you think. We all have only one life, so why not have a little courage and dare to try new things.
What is the most rewarding part of your job?
Learning how to use new tools I’ve never heard of, having the opportunity to build something much bigger than I am, and watching myself excel at something I never thought I was capable of doing.
Why do you think there is a lack of women in the construction industry?
I feel most women have been raised thinking they need to stay within their calling. Construction is a very masculine, hard environment, mentally, physically, and emotionally. Most woman are intimidated to enter that environment. Thank God I’m not most woman!
Stay tuned to learn more about the incredible women at Goldfinch Brothers Inc. as we celebrate Women’s History Month.
